Note to Subcontractors and Subcontractor Employees

Except for certain LANL-specific, no-charge courses, the Environment, Safety, and Health Training Group (CT-ITS) cannot provide training free-of-charge to subcontractor employees.

A subcontractor employee that attends an CT-ITS-sponsored course that is not a LANL-specific, no-charge course, must provide payment for the course.

Definition of a Subcontractor Employee

A subcontractor employee is any worker at the Laboratory not employed by one of the following entities:
  • University of California
  • Department of Energy
  • Johnson Controls Northern New Mexico (Johnson North) and their five major subcontractors:
    • Benchmark
    • Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC)
    • JMJ Associates
    • Kleentech
    • Westinghouse
  • Butler Service Group, Inc.
  • Comforce Technical Services, Inc.
  • Weirich & Associates, Inc.
  • B.I. Literary Services
  • Technical Communication Services, Inc.
  • Protection Technology Los Alamos (PTLA)
  • The Plus Group

LANL-Specific, No-Charge Courses

The following courses are LANL-specific courses that are free-of-charge to all individuals working at LANL, including subcontractor employees:
  • General Employee Training (GET)
  • Radiological Worker I Training (12907)
  • Radiological Worker II Training (12909)
  • Waste Documentation Forms (8504)
  • Lockout/Tagout Procedures (13337)
  • RCRA Personnel Training (7488)
  • RCRA Refresher Training (9581)

Course Charges and Payment Methods for Subcontractor Employees

For subcontractor employees, the charges for CT-ITS-sponsored courses are:
  • $100.00 for all courses that meet for four hours or less, which includes self-studies and computer-based training (CBT), and
  • $100.00 for each additional four-hour time block (no prorating).

Subcontract employees must give a check for the cost of a course to the instructor of a course at the beginning of the first date of the course.

The check must be made out to: Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Course Charges for Vendor-Delivered Courses

All Laboratory workers regardless of employer must pay course charges for vendor-delivered courses.

Any charges for vendor-delivered courses are noted in the registration system and by the CT-ITS registrar at the time of registration.
